Cop Drives Man 100 Miles So He Could Be With Grieving Family

Last weekend, Mark Ross got a devastating phone call from his family at 3 a.m. informing him that his 15-year-old sister had died in a car accident.

Obviously desperate to make the trip from Indiana to Detroit so he could be with his family, Ross was in a bind because he had no car or a valid license. Instead, he begged a friend who had a suspended license to drive him there. The friend agreed. On the way, however, the two were pulled over for allegedly speeding.

Instead of being arrested, since Ross also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, Sgt. David Robison offered to drive Ross as far north as possible to help him get to his family.

Robinson drove nearly 100 miles before dropping Ross off at a coffee shop in Detroit for his family to pick him up. When Ross was getting out of the car, he was again surprised when Robinson offered to pray for Ross and his family.

“Everyone knows how much I dislike cops,” Ross said in a Facebook post that has been shared nearly 130,000 times. “but I am truly grateful for this guy. He gave me hope.”

Ross’ family was so grateful for Robinson’s kindness, that they even invited him to the funeral services.

This comes on the heels of another heartwarming story where police in California gave a mountain bike to a teen who had to walk two hours every day to work.

It’s another great reminder that, no matter what the mainstream media will show us over and over again on the news, police can have a significant positive influence not just on their communities but people as well.
