A leaked email shows Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta sorted potential vice presidential candidates into “food groups” based on their gender and ethnicity.

In an email titled, “People worth looking at,” Podesta wrote to Clinton aide Cheryl Mills on March 12, “for our call tomorrow (Cheryl, I'll talk to you today) I did a first cut of people worth considering. They are organized in rough food groups.”

These “rough food groups” organize people based on their race, gender, and occupation.

The list of Hispanics includes:

Ken Salazar
Javier Becerra
Julian Castro
Tom Perez
Eric Garcetti
Kevin DeLeon

The list of women includes:

Amy Klobuchar
Claire McKaskill
Tammy Baldwin
Jeanne Shaheen
Debbie Stabenow
Elizabeth Warren

The list of white men includes:

Sherrod Brown
Tim Kaine
Terry McAuliffe
Chris Murphy
Tom Vilsack
Martin Heinreich

The list of black men includes:

Corey Booker
Deval Patrick
Kasim Reed
Anthony Foxx
Steve Benjamin
Andrew Gillum
Eric Holder

The list of military members includes:

Mike Mullen
Bill McCraven
John Allen

The list of wealthy businessmen includes:

Tim Cook
Bill Gates
Melinda Gates
Howard Schultz
Mary Barra
Ursula Burns
Judith Rodin

And the list of former Democratic presidential candidates who ran against Clinton:

Bernie Sanders

Podesta also emailed someone who appears to be Clinton herself (the email address is hdr29@hrcoffice.com) on March 17 about potential vice presidential nominees, using the same “rough food group” categories.

The list sent to Clinton excluded DeLeon from the Hispanic category and added Kirsten Gillibrand to the women category, Michael Bennet to the white male category, and Michael Bloomberg to the rich private sector businessman list.
