CBS is under some fire for appearing to hold back a clip of president-elect Trump telling his supporters to stop attacking people, according to The Hill.

Trump gave his first interview after winning the election to "60 Minutes," where interviewer Lesley Stahl told Trump about attacks on minorities that have allegedly been by Trump supporters.

Trump replied, “I am so saddened to hear it and I say stop it,” before looking into the camera directly and again telling supporters to “stop it.”

The clip only appeared in the full interview which was aired on Sunday. The interview was filmed, however, on Friday, leading to some question why CBS didn’t release the clip earlier. "60 Minutes" had released some quotes in advance, but only about Trump’s comments on Obamacare.

CNN’s Brian Stelter asked CBS why this was, to which a CBS spokesman said, “We chose to release a quote on the issue that affects the most Americans & that was his statement on Obamacare.”

Stelter called the response “underwhelming.”

Given the increasing severity of protests throughout the country, it is quite reasonable to wonder if Trump’s comments to his supporters would have been a much better choice for CBS to release early than his comments about Obamacare.

Protests have sprung up in major cities in response to Trump being elected president, and not all of them have been peaceful. Hundreds of people have been arrested, property has been damaged, traffic gone up due to protesters blocking roads, and one protester in Portland was shot and has been hospitalized.

Trump had a message for the protesters as well, telling them to not be afraid. “We are going to bring our country back, but certainly, don't be afraid."
