Employees at BuzzFeed are apparently “disappointed” that they’re white.

A new video released by BuzzFeed shows five employees providing samples of their DNA to genetic testing company 23andMe for ancestry analysis.

The BuzzFeed staff then sits down with one of 23andMe’s genetic counselors in order to learn their genetic ancestries.

Maycie, whose results show that she is 99.9 percent European, states that she learned she is “basic white girl.”

She claims her results are “not that exciting” since they’re “literally 99.9 percent European.”

Another employee, Shane, responds to the discovery that his ethnic background is 99.7 percent European by saying he is “basically just a white guy.”

“I’m a little disappointed. I thought I might be something cool. I’m just a white guy,” Shane laments.

While discussing his impression of 23andMe’s service and his results, Shane said, “This might be very exciting for people from a culturally diverse background.”

“Us white people, we get enough excitement.”
