If you're an employee of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, you should feel right at home jazzing it up for Pride Month in June. Whether it's spangling out your classroom in rainbow paraphernalia or crossdressing your little biologically male heart out, feel free to let your freak flag fly all month long - after all, we wouldn't want anyone to feel excluded in this age of "inclusivity"!

Unless, of course, you're a bus driver who wants to wear a Christmas tree sweater or wish your students a Feliz Navidad. Better button that right up.

That's per a memo sent out last Friday to employees of the entire school district by the school system's transportation director, who said they'd received complaints that some school staff - specifically bus drivers - were wearing Christmas-themed attire or decorating for the holiday.

"As per [Superintendent] Dr. Marseille, he has been receiving complaints from parents concerning District employees displaying "Christmas" themed decorations and/or wearing clothing of the same nature," the memo reads.

The memo advises drivers to take down anything "specific to the Christmas Holiday or any other decorations relating to a specific religion," and not to wear Christmas-specific clothings or play "Christmas music or any other music related to a specific religion."

The memo concludes by assuring bus drivers that "this is not specific to our department, it applies to all district employees."

But back in June, Wallingford-Swarthmore was quick to promote a "safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students and employees" when it came to kids and staff who identified as gay, trans, or "queer."

Got that? If you want to flaunt who you're sleeping with to your students or force them to adopt your made-up pronouns, go for it. But if you want to play "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" on a school bus while wearing a t-shirt with a depiction of the Baby Jesus, that's a bridge too far.

Naturally, the memo caught backlash on social media after people were quick to note the one-sidedness of the mandate, as well as how ridiculous it is to tell employees they can't mention Christmas at, well, Christmas. The school district quickly sought to walk back the memo, which they said was "not clear" - only to end up muddying the waters even more. Administrators quickly amended their directive to say that holiday displays weren't banned, but that employees should seek to create an "inclusive environment."

So if you could just nix the Virgin Mary, that'd be appreciated. All bisexual gender-swapping elves who identify as reindeer are welcome.
