Maybe it’s just me, but the number of teachers getting caught having sex with their students seems to have skyrocketed in recent years.

Just days after a 32-year-old (now-former) teacher at West Monroe High School in West Monroe, Louisiana, was arrested for allegedly sexting and molesting a 15-year-old student, another teacher - this one a 26-year-old woman in Missouri - has been booked for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old kid in her class.

What’s worse? His dad apparently knew about their relationship and gave it the green light. Gross.

Hailey Clifton-Carmack was arrested in Garden Ridge, Texas, after fleeing her home state of Missouri when authorities got word that she was sleeping with the student at Laquey High School, where Clifton-Carmack had taught math for about a year and a half. Police say she had other students serve as “look-outs” while the trysts took place on school property.

But on top of being a nasty perv, it turns out Clifton-Carmack is also supremely stupid, having not thought through her brilliant plan of having teenagers watch her back while she got busy with their friend. One of the kids snitched to the cops in early December, prompting her hasty departure to the Lone Star State to "visit family."

And maybe - just maybe - there were a few warning signs the school could have noticed, if our society still had any standard of decency whatsoever. According to court documents, Clifton-Carmack, who was recently divorced, was known for wearing skin-tight clothing including leggings and low-cut tops that showed plenty of cleavage. The red flags abound.

Upon her arrest, police found messages on her phone that confirmed a relationship with the 16-year-old boy. The young man’s father has also been arrested and slapped with a felony charge for child endangerment after it turns out he knew about the whole thing and gave it a big thumbs-up. Clifton-Carmack has been charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree statutory rape, sexual contact with a student, and fourth-degree child molestation, and has been booked on a $250,000 bond.

Fox News reports almost 350 K-12 educators were arrested on child sex crimes in 2022 alone. And here we thought gender-bending dress-up closets and rampant violence were our only worries in public schools.
