The NXXT Women's Pro Tour will now poll its golfers on its transgender athlete policy after a dude handily trounced his female competitors at last week’s Women’s Classic in Florida.

Hailey Davidson, a Scottish-born man, won the women's golf tournament in Orlando last Wednesday, shooting one-over-73 and ending +4 in the three-round tournament. All in all, the win landed Davidson with a 1320 on the NXXT leaderboard, the highest ever in the tour and a solid 150 points in front of the actual woman in second place. His placement increases the chance he'll land a spot on the LPGA Tour (he still has to finish within the Top Five and compete well in the Epson Tour, the LPGA’s pipeline).

According to this, Davidson began trying to compete in women’s golf all the way back in 2016, but wasn’t eligible until 2021, after he’d undergone more than five years of hormone therapy and “gender reassignment surgery.” But even after all that, Davidson is still noticeably male, with the physical advantages - including swing speed - that come with his biological gender.

After days of outrage from people rightfully angry that a man was crowned the winner of yet another women’s athletic competition, NXXT has responded, saying it’s polling its players on how they feel about the policy allowing biological men to compete in the women’s tour.

“In light of recent events, we have initiated a poll among our tour players to gather their opinions on our gender policy. We believe it is vital to consider the perspectives of those directly affected by these policies,” NXXT’s statement on Monday read.

Which, as positive as it may seem on its face, should be unnecessary. If a person’s a man, which all biological men are and will ever be, then he shouldn’t be allowed to compete in a competition reserved specifically for women. No polling is needed. Not to mention the fact that a poll forces players to put on record their feelings about being forced to compete against a man, putting female athletes in the awful position of either speaking the truth about their concerns, or simply supporting the pro-trans policy for fear of being forever branded “transphobic.”

Which, not shockingly, is how Davidson feels about those who’ve called him out for unfairly competing against women, saying he’s been the victim of “misinformed hatred.”

“It’s crazy the amount of misinformed hatred I have received so far today,” Davidson wrote on social media following his win last week. “All of these people (think) I hit it 300 yards or even 280 yards. How about 250 on a good day.”

On top of asking its players how they feel about this particular strain of unfairness, NXXT also noted that “in maintaining the integrity of our standards, we have requested Hailey Davidson to undergo additional testosterone testing to ensure compliance with the appropriate guidelines.” According to the tour's own website, NXXT "champions the talents of women golfers, to inspire a new generation of athletes through increased exposure and equitable opportunities."

"Equitable." Heh.

As for the LPGA, the supposedly women’s-only organization allows “transgender women” - a.k.a., men - to compete if they meet certain requirements.
