President Joe Biden just can’t stop lying.
Excuse me - “gaffing.”
Speaking before a group of service members in Alaska Wednesday commemorating the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, Biden claimed he’d stood at Ground Zero the day after the terrorist attacks and surveyed the damage.
Just one problem: he didn’t.

“I join you on this solemn day to renew our sacred vow: never forget. Never forget. We never forget. Each of us – each of those precious lives stolen too soon when evil attacked. Ground Zero in New York – I remember standing there the next day, and looking at the building. And I felt like I was looking through the gates of hell, it looked so devastating because of the way – from where you could stand," Biden said during his remarks.
Except Biden wasn’t at Ground Zero the next day. On September 12, 2001, Biden was in Washington, D.C. speaking before the U.S. Senate condemning the attacks on the World Trade Center the day before. In fact, it would be nine days before Biden would personally head up to New York City and see the site for himself.

While one could forgive an 80-year-old man for misremembering a relatively small detail about an event that took place 23 years ago, Biden’s penchant for recreating the past is pretty habitual - and he’s been doing it for years. From recently claiming his home almost burned to the ground in 2004, falsely saying he watched a bridge collapse in Pennsylvania, claiming to have graduated in the top 10% of his law class after attending on a full ride, purporting to have been arrested with Nelson Mandela in South Africa, saying he marched in the Civil Rights movement, and repeatedly claiming his son, Beau, had been killed in Iraq, the list of made-up Biden family stories goes far beyond a small pile of understandable misspeaks, and date back to long before Biden became an octogenarian president.
