After announcing her new pregnancy on Thursday, Bristol Palin faced a firestorm of criticism and hateful comments from people calling her a hypocrite for preaching abstinence to teens.

Palin, 24, responded to her critics in a new Patheos blog post on Sunday that, while she fears her family and friends will be disappointed by the news, she does not regret or view her pregnancy as a mistake.

“None of us are perfect,” she began. “I made a mistake, but it’s not the mistake all these giddy a$$holes have loved to assume.”

“This pregnancy was actually planned,” said Palin.

“Everyone knows I wanted more kids, to have a bigger family,” she continued. “Believing I was heading that way, I got ahead of myself. Things didn’t go as planned, but life keeps going. Life moves on.”

“But I do not regret this baby,” said Palin.

“This baby is not a disappointment, and I cannot wait to be a mom times two. Tripp is going to make the best big brother!!”

She wrote that, while the timing is not ideal with her recent split from former fiancé Dakota Meyer, whether to keep her baby was never a question.

“When I realized I was pregnant, I knew I would be completely crucified,” said Palin.

“But I never even thought of aborting this child, NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE.”

"I am pregnant," she went on. "This is not the ideal situation, but life is important even if it's not in the most absolute ideal circumstance. This is more confirmation on what I've always stood for. I've always been pro-life and I am standing for life now.”

In response to attacks on her character, Palin made one thing clear:

“I have never been paid as an ‘abstinence spokesperson.'"

“I was employed by the great people at The Candies Foundation," she explained. "They are a teen pregnancy prevention non-profit and I worked for them when I was 18 and 19—when I could share first hand the challenges of being a teen mother."

Palin said that things are far different now from when she was pregnant six years ago with her first child, Tripp:

“I know you remember me most from when Mom ran for Vice President. However, I’m not 17 anymore, I am 24. I’ve been employed at the same doctor’s office for over six years now; I own a home; I have a well-rounded, beautiful son.”

To all her haters like Jezebel and Gawker calling her a hypocrite and using her pregnancy as an argument for abortion, Palin concluded her written response with the following statement:

“Deal with it.”
