'Black Lives Matter' Shouts Desecrate Moment of Silence Dedicated to Fallen Cops

A moment of silence for the cops who were killed in the line duty at the Democratic National Convention was cut short when "black lives matter" chants erupted from the otherwise quiet crowd.

During Thursday’s night section of the DNC, Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez, whose city saw five police officers killed and seven more wounded earlier this month in an ambush, asked the crowd for a moment of silence to commemorate all of the slain police officers.

Sadly, not long after the moment began, individuals in the crowd began shouting “black lives matter.” The jeering did not spread, and many in attendance waved off the inconsiderate attendees.

Thankfully, the mini-protest was quickly cut short when Valdez continued her speech, inviting the family members of fallen police officers to join her on the stage to speak. They were greeted with a standing ovation from the other delegates.

Cops have increasingly become targets for violence over the last year, after a string of deaths of black men, such as Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, have been blamed on police brutality. This violence has ranged from petty insults, such as refusing to serve cops food, to ambushing police officer. As a result, almost 70 cops have been killed in the line of duty this year.
