A plurality of Americans agree with President-elect Donald Trump that the U.S. intelligence community is playing politics, according to the findings of a new Rasmussen poll.

In a survey of 1,000 likely U.S. voters conducted last week, 47% think America’s intelligence agencies have their own political agenda.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) say the U.S. intelligence community generally performs impartially and 15% are undecided.

Along party lines, Republicans are more likely to agree with Trump on the politicization of intelligence, with 53% of GOP voters who feel U.S. intelligence agencies advance their own political agenda.

Just 39% of Democrats agree.

A sizeable 50% of respondents who do not identify with either major political party say the U.S. intelligence community plays politics.

Trump has denied claims that Russia meddled in the presidential election despite reports from the U.S. intelligence community.

Many have criticized Trump for publicly questioning the integrity of the U.S. intelligence community as it sends the wrong message to America’s enemies and allies.

Before the New Year, President Obama issued a series of retaliatory measures against Russia for allegedly hacking into Democratic Party systems during the presidential campaigns in an effort to help Trump win the presidency.

Russia has denied any such interference in the election.
