In a world where a decent portion of American women believe in abortion as a form of empowerment, prominent Hollywood actress Emily Blunt is publicly supporting motherhood.

Blunt, who starred alongside husband John Krasinski in the “Quiet Place” films, announced her break from acting during a Monday interview on the “Table for Two” podcast

“This year, I’m not working,” Emily told podcast host Bruce Bozzi. “I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is 9, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little. And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’”

The “Mary Poppins Returns” star clarified that her decision to rest from Hollywood doesn’t mean she dislikes ambition in women.

“I’m a huge advocate for women being ambitious,” said Blunt. “It’s just dreams with purpose–it’s not an ugly word.”

Blunt’s definition of ambition is simply different, and her definition mirrors the roles she likes best.

“I get irritated when I’m told, ‘She’s a badass’--that’s not interesting to me because that’s not real life,” the actress said in a June interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “What I like is that sense of a fish out of water, someone who’s struggling, who’s haphazardly clawing their way out. Women are heroic when they’re in way over their heads.”

What Blunt and so many other conservative women want is to have a career while sufficiently fulfilling the duties that come with being a mother.

“When I see myself up on a billboard, I have this complete disassociation with it,” Blunt explained. “I’m like, who’s that? And I can see my children doing the same–they might say, oh, there’s Mama, but it’s not exciting for them. What’s exciting for them is when I can pick them up from school and take them swimming.”
