Today, Donald Trump announced that he will be running for the office of President. Here are 7 facts about his life that you may not know about him. 

1. Trump was on the brink of bankruptcy

In 1990, Donald Trump almost had to file personal and business bankruptcy. In just four years he was able to pay back $900 million in personal debt and was also able to reduce the debt his business had acquired. Trump is now worth $2.6 billion dollars and owns more than 100 companies. (via)

 

2. Owned a football team

Trump used to own the New Jersey Generals, which were part of the United States Football League. (via)

 

3. Trump does not drink alcohol

He does not drink because his older brother Fred struggled with alcoholism.   

“I learned a lot from my brother, Fred,” Trump told Forbes. “He set an example.  It wasn’t, maybe, the example that people would think, but it really was, in its own way, an example.  That here was this fantastic guy, who got caught up in the alcohol, and he ultimately died from alcoholism.”

In 1989, he bought Eastern Air Shuttle. Trump pushed to turn this airline into a luxury experience. Ultimately it failed because the customers liked the airline for its convenience not the new fancy look combine that with high fuel prices the airline never made a profit. (via)
