She can't legally order a drink, but soon enough she'll be taking her seat as the newest member of the state legislature in one of the most pivotal primary states in the upcoming presidential election.

Nineteen year-old Republican Yvonne Dean-Bailey defeated Democrat Maureen Mann yesterday in a special election for the New Hampshire House of Representatives District 32 seat.

Dean-Bailey told MRCTV she’s “ecstatic” to be able to represent Rockingham and hopes that her win will “encourage more millennials to get involved.”

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, the race attracted national attention.

GOP leaders such as Carly Fiorina and Rick Perry stumped for Dean-Bailey, while
Mann received promotion aid from likely Democratic presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley.

Dean-Bailey thinks her youth was a bonus to her campaign.

“Many times throughout my campaign my youth was a question--but I believe that if you understand the legislative process, you understand your community and you want to do great things for your community, then youth is only a bonus,” she added.
