The Oregon State House recently passed a bill that would allow girls as young as 15-years-old to get abortions without parental consent.

According to KOIN 6, Governor Tina Kotek (D) signed the legislation that sparked the longest Senate walkout in Oregon's history on July 13. House Bill 2002 guarantees teenage girls can access “reproductive health care” without parental permission and protects healthcare providers from out-of-state investigations and legal action.

However, there are exceptions in the law for girls of any age to get abortions without their parents’ consent if they believe preventing an abortion would result in “emotional abuse.”

According to LifeSite News, “A 10-year-old girl could consent to the abortion if the ‘health care provider’ believes parental involvement ‘may result in the physical or emotional abuse of the minor or the neglect of the minor’ or ‘would not be in the best interest of the minor.’”

Apart from horridly liberalizing abortion in Oregon, the bill also promotes gender ideology by requiring insurance companies to cover gender affirming care – AKA, surgical mutilation – for gender-confused individuals.

Even for pro-choicers, this seems far too liberal of a stance on abortion. Should a 10-year-old really be able to make a decision like this without informing her parents at all?!

The fact that this extreme of a stance on abortion has been legally passed in our country is demonstrative of where society is going. We already have no value for unborn life and no value for parental authority in the lives of children. How much farther will the left take it?
