From Daily Kos To The House Floor
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 - 11:19am
After vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin's speech at the Republican convention last week, this new talking point emerged in the liberal blogosphere: "Jesus was a community organizer, and Pontius Pilate was a governor."
The wisecrack was in response to Palin, the current governor of Alaska, taking a shot at former community organizer and Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama over his lack of leadership experience.
Today, the Jesus-vs.-Pilate comparison made its way to the House floor when the puppetmasters of the blogosphere pulled the strings of Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn. "Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus," Cohen said. "... Pontius Pilate was a governor."
Erick Erickson of RedState penned the best response from the right: "Christ knew when life began and Pontius Pilate thought the issue above his pay grade."
