Portland State Protestors Face No Charges – Get Palestinian Art Instead

Protestors at Portland State University will not face criminal charges or even suspension for damaging and seizing the Millar Library. Instead, the college president will support scholarships and creative works dedicated to Palestine.

Because rewarding criminals is what Portland seems to do best.

The Post Millennial reports that PSU President Ann Cudd has made it clear that students won’t be suspended, expelled, or punished for their role in the occupation.

Additionally, Cudd vowed to personally support scholarships and creative works dedicated to Palestine, as well as PSU's ongoing financial commitment to anti-racist work. The president also insisted she would be giving a personal donation to the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia (MENASA) Student Center at PSU, which was a condition of the agreement.

Students along with some assistance from the Rose City Antifa group used boards and garbage to create a so-called  "Gaza Liberation Zone," which included the library. The building was vandalized with communist insignias and phrases in support of Hamas.

"Finally, I agreed to meet with student leaders on May 17 in the afternoon about the remaining concerns of the protest to continue our dialogue," Cudd said in an email to the 'campus community.' "Approximately 50 students left of their own accord and I thank them and other students who have worked to de-escalate the protest...It is our understanding that there are also a number of non-students who remain in the library as part of the protest."

How long the protestors will be able to stay remains to be seen.
