Biden's Flubs at Syracuse Speech are Nothing New, Happen Too Often to be Ignored

I’m sorry, but the people handling President Joe Biden need to be brought up on charges of elderly abuse. I’m not saying that as a “slam” or to make fun of him. It’s just gotten to the point that the man can’t go an entire paragraph without saying something that either makes no sense or that says the quiet part out loud.

Biden spoke at a campaign event in Syracuse, New York on Thursday, and there were a couple of moments in particular that raised some eyebrows.

“Wages are rising,” Biden said. “Instead of importing foreign products, we’re exporting American jobs — we’re exporting American products and creating American jobs.”

Now, some might say that was a flub, while others might say the president was saying the quiet part out loud.

As for the second moment that Biden created through his poetic prose, it seems that in talking about the concerns of the families of police officers he made it about himself once again.

“Every time a police officer puts on that shield every morning, their husband or wife, whatever it is, or child, worries about will they get that phone call. Will they get that phone call,” Biden said. “I got one of those phone calls in a different circumstance.”

Maybe Biden was trying to be relatable — and I’m not trying to be insensitive here — but Biden’s son, Beau, dying of cancer and him getting a phone call about it because he wasn’t there isn’t remotely the same thing as an officer’s family being notified of the death of their loved one in the line of duty.

Second, if an officer — soldier or police — dies in the line of duty, I’m pretty sure they don’t get a phone call. Instead, a liaison officer and usually a psychologist or chaplain notifies the family in person even before the media learns of the situation if it can be helped.

Even if these were honest mistakes, or if Biden simply misspoke, these occurrences happen far too often to ignore.
