Octogenarian Climate Activists Bust Glass Over the Magna Carta

Brittany M. Hughes | May 10, 2024

Nothing is sacred and nothing is safe when it comes to the climate nut jobs who're willing to ruin priceless art and artifacts in the name of "global warming." Their latest victim? The Magna Carta.

Well, not the actual Magna Carta itself. Thankfully, the people in charge of keeping and guarding such relics have learned throughout the course of history that important things must be kept under tight protection thanks to idiots like these. Two "Just Stop Oil" activists - both in their 80s, so there's a twist - can be seen on video using a hammer and chisel to try to break through the thick glass casing around the Magna Carta, a charter of rights signed by King John of England in 1215. This particular document is one of four surviving copies of the charter, currently on display at the British Library in London.

Reverend Dr. Sue Parfitt, 82, and Judy Bruce, an 85-year-old retired biology teacher, began banging on the glass, resulting in scratches to the protective case but no damage to the actual document inside. As if that weren't stupid enough, they then glued themselves to the case.

“The Magna Carta is rightly revered, being of great importance to our history, to our freedoms and to our laws,” Parfitt said. ”But there will be no freedom, no lawfulness, no rights, if we allow climate breakdown to become the catastrophe that is now threatened.”

The pair reiterated the "Just Stop Oil" group's demands, which include a promise and a plan from the UK government to end all use of oil, gas and coal by 2030. Which, if anyone's doing the math, would give humanity just six years to come up with a feasible and universal alternative to, you know, the fuel that sustains all civilizations and life on Earth.

But apparently to these ladies, preventing the ever-elusive climate apocalypse is more important than being able to cook your food, heat your home in the winter, or get to the job you need to make money and pay your bills.

“We must get things in proportion. The abundance of life on earth, the climate stability that allows civilization to continue is what must be revered and protected above all else, even above our most precious artifacts," she went on.

The police didn't seem to agree, and arrested both activists on suspicion of criminal damage.

The library was forced to close the entire exhibit, ruining everyone else's day thanks to these octogenarian idiots.
